Chronicle of Czech Science Fiction
A collaborative project by several Czech editors to publish a representative cross-section of Czech science fiction short stories in English. From the early beginnings to the present day. The project originated as an extension of Radomil Dojiva‘s intention to publish a cross-section of Czech science fiction from the last twenty years of the twentieth century in English under the title Bradbury‘s Shadow. Jaroslav Olša, Jr. and Julie Nováková were primarily responsible for expanding the project from a single anthology to a series of five books covering more than a century of Czech F&SF literature. Of the list below, only the third and fifth volumes have been published so far; the publication of the other volumes is in preparation.
Vol. 1: Czech F&SF until 1950
Vol. 2: Czech F&SF after 1950
Vol. 3: Bradbury‘s Shadow (Fandom Authors of the 1980s)
Vol. 4: Czech F&SF around 2000
Vol. 5: From the Land of Robots and Golems (21st century Czech speculative fiction)
Note for experts: Between 2010 and 2014, Ivan Adamovič published a three-volume Chronicle of Czech Science Fiction in Czech, which does not overlap with this Chronicle of Czech Science Fiction project in English.
Outside of the series, the following have been published in English:
Vampires Ltd., Josef Nesvadba (1964)
The Lost Face, Josef Nesvadba (1971)
View from Another Shore, ed. Franz Rottensteiner (1973), includes a short story by Josef Nesvadba
